Description

OUR COMPANY

Whisper Aero is pioneering a more compelling and connected future by delivering cleaner, quieter, and more efficient propulsion solutions. Today’s open rotor propulsion systems are challenged by safety, noise, and performance limitations at all scales. Whisper’s breakthrough technologies allow aircraft to fly anywhere at any time without disturbing communities, at greater speeds, and with incredible improvements in efficiency and cost. Their innovations also enable a new generation of air moving products that can blend into the soundscapes of daily life. Whisper was founded by industry veterans, Mark Moore and Ian Villa, and continues to innovate a future that’s as considerate as it is compelling with its world-class team in Tennessee.

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

This role will be focused on mechanical design, prototyping, and preparing designs for manufacturing. The candidate will work with the team to identify high level needs for future propulsors and test equipment and then develop concepts to address these needs. Individually, they will be responsible for doing first principles analysis, modeling, prototyping, and getting assemblies manufactured (internally and externally). The candidate will participate in and present during reviews, assist in propulsor assembly, delegate work to technicians, and other related tasks as needed.
The successful candidate will be someone who is comfortable both working with their hands as well as working at a computer. They will be eager to ask questions and build new insights into how things work.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Own the design and manufacturing of mechanical components and subsystems for electric propulsors, electric aircraft, and ground support equipment
  • Design mechanical assemblies for ground and flight hardware
  • Create engineering drawings, models, and assemblies in CAD and maintain the BOM
  • Develop prototypes and mechanical assemblies, tooling, and ground support equipment
  • Lead the development of new technologies and manufacturing methods for Whisper propulsors
