A&K Railroad Materials Inc. is a leading supplier of new and used railroad track materials. A&K has sales offices, and a network of storage and distribution facilities strategically located throughout the United States. Together, these offices and inventory locations maintain an extensive and comprehensive inventory of track materials across the nation. Our mission is to provide innovative solutions to promote lasting railway infrastructure.

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical design, manufacturing processes, and engineering analysis. Experience in production considered a plus. You will be responsible for supporting production and leading engineering projects from conception through to implementation, collaborating across departments to deliver innovative and practical solutions.

  • Utilize engineering principles, theories, and techniques to support project development and execution
  • Create shop drawings and technical documentation from bills of materials and engineering data
  • Read and interpret complex engineering drawings and specifications
  • Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and project stakeholders to ensure project objectives are met
  • Perform data collection and analysis to identify issues, evaluate solutions, and recommend improvements
  • Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Work within standard engineering frameworks such as ASTM and AREMA
  • Assist in the integration and use of ERP systems such as Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365)
  • Contribute to the development and prototyping of components using 3D printing technologies

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field
  • Reliable transportation
  • Basic CAD skills in SolidWorks and AutoCAD

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • High Proficiency with CAD software: AutoCAD, SolidWorks, SolidWorksCAM, or similar programs
  • Familiarity with CNC machinery and linear G-code programming
  • Experience with ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics 365 or similar)
  • 3D printing and prototyping experience
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
