Description Job Summary: The Biogas/Landfill Mechanical Engineer will design, develop, and implement mechanical solutions that support Qnergy’s renewable energy product lines. This role combines hands-on engineering with field-based problem solving. The employee will work directly with cross-functional teams in design, testing, fabrication, and deployment of multi-disciplinary systems. Responsibilities: Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies for landfill and biogas system integration, including piping, mounting structures, gas handling, and enclosure systems. Translate field requirements and customer feedback into product improvements and application-specific designs. Conduct testing and validation of prototypes, including pressure, flow, and environmental performance testing. Generate 3D models and detailed manufacturing drawings using CAD software (SolidWorks preferred). Work hands-on with tools and equipment to assemble, test, and troubleshoot mechanical systems and subassemblies. Collaborate with cross-functional teams ( Electrical, Controls, Manufacturing, and Field Service) to ensure systems meet reliability, safety, and performance standards. Support installation, commissioning, and service of landfill and biogas projects in the field as needed. Document design changes, test results, and field learnings for continuous product improvement. Participate in DFMEA reviews, design validations, and continuous improvement initiatives for manufacturability and cost reduction. Participate in and lead design review and toll gate meetings. Interface regularly with senior leadership, executives, and government officials with tact and professionalism. Requirements Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field required. 3 – 7 years of experience in product design, mechanical systems, or applied engineering, experience in landfill gas, biogas, or renewable energy applications Experience with fluid dynamics, pressure systems, and gas handling preferred. preferred. Experience with new product design and launch process preferred. Industrial controls experience (PLC and ladder logic), and panel design preferred. Proficiency writing in at least one computer language (Python, C, C#, C++) required. Skills & Abilities: Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling (SolidWorks preferred). Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to “think with your hands”, capable of building, testing, and iterating designs in a lab or shop environment. Strong familiarity with and comfortable using hand tools. Comfortable researching and reading scholarly works. Familiarity with industrial fabrication methods (welding, machining, assembly). Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Willingness to travel to field sites for system testing, commissioning, or troubleshooting (up to 15%) Work Environment: Work/visit remote locations. Ability to stand for long periods of time and work outdoors. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance. Ability to multi-task in a changing environment.
