Description

Overview:
We are looking for a student to start in May or September for an 8 or 12-month Co-Op.
Stryten Energy delivers premium energy storage solutions that power everything from warehouses and distribution centers to cars, trains and trucks that keep people on the move and essential supply chains running. Our stored energy solutions include advanced lead and lithium batteries, intelligent chargers and cloud-based software that help companies make smart fleet design decisions.
We partner with our customers to identify their need, and then find the best solution for that need, regardless of technology. We are not betting our future on any one solution. Instead, we believe the future will involve great battery technology, which will include both advanced lead and lithium solutions, depending on customer needs.
Responsibilities:

About the role - you’ll get to:

  • Participate in the design of Li-Ion Battery for defense and motive applications and large energy storage applications.
  • Validate technologies and produce working demonstration systems that integrate new technologies with existing Stryten products.
  • Use CAD (Stryten Ottawa uses SolidWorks) and engineering analysis to assist with the definition and fine-tuning of emerging designs.
  • Perform experiments, first-article inspections, material selection, and similar tasks associated with mechanical engineering.

Qualifications:

About you - you’ll need:

  • To be currently pursuing a university degree in Mechanical Engineering (2nd or 3rd year student preferred).
  • Previous co-op term (with at least one term having design experience) or a proven school project with design experience.
  • Minimum of 1000 hours of SolidWorks experience.
  • Preference is given to students with an understanding of GD&T.
  • Preference is given to students with an understanding of SolidWorks PDM.
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Good attention to detail, the ability to multitask, and time management skills.
  • Well-developed computer skills including CAD, Word, and Excel.
  • A collaborative approach - you’ll be a natural and enthusiastic team player.

Must be eligible to work in Canada either as a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident and be eligible for Canadian Controlled Goods certification.
