Requirements Roles & Responsibilities Researches and analyzes data such as customer design proposal, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application. Designs products for the aerospace industry including aero-structures with integrated ice protection (mechanical, electro-mechanical). Goal is to meet customer’s loading requirements, minimizing weight, and controlling manufacturing costs using advanced analytical and numerical tools. Develops mechanical designs (3D models and 2D detailed drawings). Coordinates prototype fabrication and installation activities to ensure products and systems conform to engineering design and customer specifications. Evaluates field installations and recommends design modifications as required. Lead on technical interfacing with customers for coordination on interfaces and integration with ice protection systems. Qualification To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, and a minimum of five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Safety Requirements This position requires the use of approved safety footwear (ASTM F-2413 complaint) when accessing or working in production and workshop areas. Language Skills Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Mathematical Skills Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Reasoning Ability Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. This position involves exposure to projects and contracts subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
