The Mechanical Engineer will assist in coordinating complex HVAC systems with team members during all phases of the design delivery and construction processes.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) licensure preferred.
  • Sustainability credentialing (LEED AP, Green Globes, etc.) is preferred.
  • Familiarity with ASHRAE/NFPA/IMC/FBC/UFC code requirements.
  • Healthcare experience is preferred.
  • Capable of independent decision-making.
  • Passion for the profession and built environment.
  • An eye for detail and able to translate ideas into reality.
  • Strong interpersonal, client service and communications skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership and emotional intelligence skills.
  • Proficiency in Revit. Experience with AutoCAD is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with load calculation software. Experience with Integrated Environmental Solutions’ Virtual Environment (IESVE) and/or Trane Trace 700 load calculation software is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Responsibilities
  • Be responsible for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating assignments.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to junior engineers, ensuring high-quality deliverables and fostering career development.
  • Be responsible for creating HVAC design documents (including source equipment, ductwork and piping distribution systems, and associated controls and accessories) design documents for construction including but not limited to drawings, calculations, specifications, and narratives/reports. (HVAC systems include chilled, hot, and condenser water systems, steam systems, fuel oil systems, ductwork systems, and control systems.)
  • Provide consulting services, including preparation of due diligence reports, gap analyses, and feasibility reports.)
  • Coordinate with design teams, owners, contractors, reviewers, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Apply design standards, specifications, and criteria for projects.
  • Consult with senior engineers or designers concerning unusual problems and developments.
  • Perform field investigations as required to validate existing site and building conditions.
  • Complete engineering-related activities throughout all phases of the design delivery process including but not limited to reviewing shop drawings, responding to requests for information (RFIs), and conducting site observation during the construction administration phase.
  • Participate in client meetings and site visits to assess project needs, provide technical advice, and ensure HVAC system performance.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends, codes, and emerging technologies in HVAC design.
  • This role may require adjusting work hours or working additional hours as needed to meet project deadlines and business demands.
  • Other duties as assigned.
