Description
Overview Element has an opportunity for an Entry-Level Nuclear Testing Engineer supports the analysis, testing, and evaluation of mechanical systems with emphasis on fluid dynamics and thermal performance in safety-related applications. The engineer assists in ensuring that nuclear systems, structures, and components meet safety and regulatory requirements by performing thermal-hydraulic analyses, conducting mechanical testing, and supporting engineering evaluations under the direction of senior staff. Salary: $70,000 - $80,000/yr DOE Responsibilities • Assist in thermal and fluid systems testing to evaluate performance, reliability, andsafety margins of nuclear components and systems.• Conduct basic thermal-hydraulic calculations and simulations to support safety analyses.• Support mechanical testing of safety-related systems, including stress, fatigue, andpressure testing of components.• Collect, analyze, and document test data to support safety basis evaluations and designverification.• Assist in reviewing engineering design changes for thermal and fluid system impacts onsafety.• Collaborate with senior engineers on hazard analyses, accident scenarios, and systemresponse modeling.• Prepare technical reports, data summaries, and documentation in compliance with NRC,DOE, and industry safety standards.• Participate in safety audits, inspections, and corrective action efforts related tomechanical and thermal systems. Skills / Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or related field.• Strong foundation in thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics.• Familiarity with engineering testing methods, instrumentation, and data analysis.• Knowledge of finite element or computational fluid dynamics (CFD) tools (courseworkor internship experience acceptable).• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, safety-focused team environment.• Eligibility to obtain and maintain required security clearances, if applicable.
