Astute’s Power Team is partnered with a market-leading Energy company, to recruit for Mechanical Engineer to join their Energy from Waste Power Station in Croydon, South London.
The vital Mechanical Engineer role comes with a salary range between £60,000 - £65,000 (inclusive of London weighting allowance) + overtime + up to 10% bonus + private medical + other benefits.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Leading and managing a team of mechanical technicians to ensure the plant is maintained to the highest standard to ensure maximum plant availability.
  • Scheduling, planning and optimising all mechanical maintenance activities in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Supervising and directing contractors.
  • Working closely with the operations department to assess and review plant performance shortfalls and how these can be rectified.
  • Assisting in the setting up and development of the sites Computerized Maintenance Management System
  • Ensuring that all activities are carried out in a safe manner and in line with company Health, Safety and Environmental policies.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone with the following:

  • Ideally having a formal qualification such as a HNC/HND in a Mechanical Engineering discipline or similar
  • A formal Health and Safety qualification such as IOSH will be advantageous but not a necessity

PERSONAL SKILLS, PRIOR EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE

The Mechanical Engineer role would suit someone who has:

  • Significant knowledge of mechanical process plant maintenance gained in a heavy engineering environment such as Power Generation, Petrochemical, Refinery, Utilities plant etc.
  • Experience in leading a team of technicians in daily maintenance practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of PSSR regulations
  • Prior experience with outage planning and execution will be highly advantageous
Responsibilities

SALARY AND BENEFITS OF THE MECHANICAL ENGINEER ROLE

  • A basic salary of up to £60,000
  • London Weighting allowance of c.£5,000
  • Overtime
  • Up to 10% Bonus
