A Mechanical Engineer designs, analyses, and develops mechanical systems and devices like machines, engines, and HVAC systems. They are used in infrastructure projects and help solve the current engineering problems. They use their thermodynamics, materials science, and mechanical principles expertise to create solutions across most engineering industries. We are looking for someone in this field.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Recognized Trade Certificate in mechanical, electrical or related field, or experience from previous roles
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Solid experience in food manufacturing equipment maintenance, particularly packaging - Formers, coating machines, mincers, Grinders, Form fill and seal machines, thermo formers, tray sealer, cooking ovens and most smallgoods equipment.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
  • Tig and Mig welding experience (desirable but not essential)
  • Organized and calm under pressure, with a methodical approach to work.

Are you looking for ongoing work in the Bankstown / Padstow NSW area.
ESSENTIAL: You must be available to work 5 days per week - we are looking for people that are flexible and want to work.
You you must be fit, and able to work in a fast paced working production facility with a good team. Heavy lifting is required, you must be reliable and punctual and be able to work in a team environment under a high pressured environment. You must be able to follow instructions. Temperatures do vary in different locations of the production plant from -18 degrees to room temperature. We work with beef, poultry, pork, lamb, vegetables and other food items. You must be able to wear the provide protective gear as supplied.
Must be able to work in both cold and hot environments and able to handle food. This is a very fast paced environment.
If you think you want to get your hands in with food this is the job for you. You must have a high level of personal hygiene and be able to adapt and understand the responsibilities with handing food products.
Your own Private transport is essential.

Responsibilities
  • Overseeing design of industrial food processing and packaging equipment and planning new lay out strategies
  • Overseeing drafting of equipment layout/installation drawings, piping and instrumentation drawings, and process flow diagrams
  • Review of customer specifications, commercial documents, and internal standards documentation to determine scope of project supply.
  • Organize and participate in meetings to generate and review Risk Assessments.
  • Sizing and manufacturing parts of mechanical and powertrain components (shafts, bearings, sprockets, gearboxes).
  • Sizing and manufacturing of heat transfer and fluid flow components (valves, pumps, burners, heat exchangers).
  • Specification of purchased components (sensors and switches).
  • Support equipment fabrication progress through our factory; we have a full machine shop, milling set up, and welding assembly set up.
  • Work with our field service group to support equipment installation, start-up, and commissioning.
  • Mobility as required to review equipment during construction and during commissioning and daily management onsite.
  • Repair and maintaining all manufacturing equipment.
  • Manage 3rd party contractors in all aspects of the site’s repairs and maintenance.
  • Hands on site Engineer
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults (including root cause analysis)
  • Plan and schedule maintenance activities to minimize downtime.
  • Support General Manager and supervisors with repairs in a timely manner to mitigate time lost by production.
  • Maintain inventory management of consumable and non-consumable parts to track and report inventory levels.
  • Collaborate with operations and quality assurance team day to day troubleshooting and improvement projects.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Maintain accurate daily service records to ensure a service history on all equipment.
  • Practical understanding of hydraulics, pneumatic, pumps and electrical systems and refrigeration systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex system challenges
  • Understand the latest advancements in the mechanical engineering field
  • A practical-minded, hands-on approach coupled with excellent communication and people skills
  • Proficiency in engineering principles, including mechanics, materials science, etc.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work effectively with other engineers
