Job Designation: Mechanical Engineer Department: Engineering Hiring Headcount: 1 Immediate Superior: Factory Manager Immediate Subordinate: N/A Overview of Responsibilities: - Design and optimize modular data center systems, including steel structures, air ducts, and panels. - Ensure all designs comply with industry standards (UL, FDA) and ISO 9001 quality systems. - Collaborate with factory teams to improve and automate processes such as welding, painting, and assembly. - Manage technical documentation, including engineering drawings and BOMs. - Support production by troubleshooting technical issues and providing on-site assistance. - Work with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth project delivery. - Assist with UL certification testing, sample preparation, and startup tasks such as technical purchasing and production readiness. Responsibilities and Work Assignments: - Participate in the mechanical design, development, and continuous improvement of modular data center systems, including steel structures, frames, air ducting, panels, and enclosures. - Ensure designs meet applicable standards (e.g., UL, FDA) and quality systems (ISO 9001); assist in product compliance, testing, and certification documentation. - Work with factory teams to set up and optimize automation equipment and processes (welding, painting, sheet metal assembly) to improve consistency and throughput. - Create and maintain engineering drawings, BOMs, assembly work instructions, and other technical documentation; ensure version control and compliance with change management. - Provide on-site technical support during production or assembly; respond to issues promptly, including flexible working hours or multitasking when needed. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams (electrical, project, QA, compliance) to ensure smooth project delivery. - Assist with sample preparation, test setup, data collection, and coordination for UL and regulatory testing; follow up on non-conformities and reports. - Support general startup tasks, such as technical purchasing input, equipment translation, and production readiness. Authority: - N/A Work Collaborative Relationships: - Internal: Superior and subordinate - External: N/A Appointment Qualifications: Educational Level: - Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. Profession: - Mechanical Engineering Work Experience: - Minimum 3 years of working experience in mechanical design or manufacturing. - Experience in modular products or sheet metal design is an added advantage. Knowledge/Skills: - Proficient in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or other 3D/2D CAD software. - Familiarity with UL standards (e.g., UL 2200, UL 2755) or FDA, and understanding of data center mechanical requirements is preferred. - Good communication skills in English and Mandarin; working knowledge of Mandarin and Malay is preferred for communication with multilingual teams and vendors. - Self-motivated, responsible, and adaptable; able to work in a fast-paced startup manufacturing environment.
