Responsibilities

In this role, you will thrive with the variety of engineering project opportunities available. The Mechanical Engineer applies mechanical engineering concepts to building systems. Mechanical engineering project work focuses on interpreting the architectural design of a building and designing the heating, cooling, and plumbing system needs to integrate and support that project design. These responsibilities include:

  • Interpreting the architectural design plans and researching appropriate HVAC and plumbing systems to fit the scope of the project.
  • Designs the heating, cooling, and plumbing systems to integrate and support the architectural building plan.
  • Apply mechanical engineering principles such as thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, materials science, and structural analysis principles within design work.
  • Understand different engineering disciplines within the project and how the mechanical engineering piece will/can impact different design elements.
  • Leverage engineering design software to draft plans, drawings, and models.
  • Incorporate the appropriate equipment to support the building’s HVAC and plumbing needs.
  • Creatively find ways to design engineering projects in challenging spaces.
  • At times, in partnership with the operations manager, develop new client business and win new project work.
