Compotech Inc. is seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer II/III to join our innovative shelter program team. In this role, you will design, develop, and analyze advanced mechanical systems and components while leading key aspects of testing and reporting. You'll drive improvements in processing methods and manufacturing processes, write detailed work instructions, and deliver technical reports for clients and sponsors. Additionally, you'll manage project timelines with updated Gantt charts, recommend equipment and materials for research, and occasionally travel to job sites to provide technical support. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Plans, executes, and reports on analysis, design, and testing aspects for Compotech’s shelters program. Reviews processing methods and materials and develops and recommends improvements. Develops and writes work instructions and executes changes in drafts as required. Participates in providing weekly, quarterly, and monthly progress reports to the program manager as well as to clients and sponsors. Develops new manufacturing processes and improves existing processes. Writes technical reports and papers detailing research and development activities for clients, and sponsors. Monitors updated Gantt charts for projects. Researches, recommends, and determines specifications for purchase of equipment, materials, and supplies for use in research projects. May occasionally travel to job sites for support of training on shelter systems, technical presentations, or testing events. Requirements Requirements: B.S. in related Engineering field (mechanical or structural focus). M.S. and/or MBA is a plus. Experience and/or coursework in some of the following areas: composite analysis, finite element modeling, engineering design, advanced mechanics of materials. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines. Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment with Compotech’s team of, engineers, technicians, interns, and contractors. Excellent 3D computer aided design (CAD) skills using SolidWorks®. Experience with complex assemblies, multi-body parts, drawings, and equations. Experience in conceptual design and design modifications to meet budgetary constraints. Experience with design for manufacturing (DFM) practices and processes. 3+ (II) to 5+ (III) years of relevant experience. Must be a U.S. Citizen. Preferred Education and/or Experience: Experience in carrying out static and dynamic laboratory load tests of composites. Experience with computer aided machining (CAM) design and principles. Experience with design of composite structures and materials. Experience with additive manufacturing (FDM) is a plus. Engineering Intern Certificate or Professional Engineering licensure is a plus.
