Description
Researches, plans, designs and develops mechanical products and systems such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines and mechanical, thermal hydraulic or heat transfer systems for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy. Directs and coordinates fabrication, installation, operation, application, maintenance and repair of mechanical machines, equipment, tools, engines and systems. Ensures that quality levels and industry standards are maintained or improved in the manufacturing process. Oversees installation, operation, maintenance and repair of equipment such as centralized heat, gas, water and steam systems. Evaluates mechanical products to determine their cost effectiveness and efficiency. Job Summary: Customize product designs and manufacturing jig/fixture designs in accordance with customer requirements across all Lines of Business (LOBs). Provide engineering support, including troubleshooting, localization, ECN implementation, and continuous improvement activities, etc. Lead or support the execution of VA/VE projects. Transfer new projects from LOBs to the Suzhou facility. Perform other engineering-related tasks as assigned. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: Transfer projects from different Nordson Lines of Business (LOBs) to Suzhou facility. Communicate effectively with LOB stakeholders, customers, and suppliers to achieve optimal technical solutions and cost targets. Provide engineering support for the manufacturing of existing products. Identify and implement Value Analysis / Value Engineering (VA/VE) initiatives. Independently select alternative standard or off-the-shelf components when appropriate. Work cross-functionally with multiple teams and organizations to resolve technical and manufacturing issues. Customize product designs and manufacturing fixture designs. Working Conditions and Physical Demands: Job requires visitation of various suppliers’ sites, which have varying environment / condition, layouts. Occasional travel aboard with limited period around 2 weeks or more. Employee physical demands: Healthy. Education and Experience Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related technical field; relevant practical experience may be considered. 2+ years of experience in precision mechanical design or automation equipment development. Preferred Skills and Abilities: Solid knowledge of mechanical engineering fundamentals, including materials, tolerances, pneumatics, and motion components. Good understanding of manufacturing processes, including machining and sheet metal. Proficient in SolidWorks. Project management or project coordination experience. Working proficiency in English, both written and spoken. Familiarity with IE, VA/VE, and Kanban concepts is a plus. Familiarity with BOM, ECN/ECO, and general manufacturing systems and processes. Exposure to ERP systems such as Efacs or SAP is a plus. Self-motivated, proactive in learning, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Good interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills, with a collaborative team-oriented mindset. Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
