Description
You will be responsible for designing mechanical parts and sub-assemblies for high volume manufacturing in laptops and tablets. You will work with suppliers and ODM (Original Design Manufacturer) partners to coordinate mechanical engineering activities across teams, oversee progress at the ODM, and verify that engineering designs are on track to meet design intent and performance requirements. You will implement and track product plans with minimal guidance in order to ensure plans account for the user experience, enable customer/partner testing scenarios, identify critical requirements (e.g., function, quality, safety, reparability, and/or reliability), and are verifiable. You will communicate project progress within the project team and escalates issues as necessary. You will identify and communicate project risks and backup plans. You will document engineering learnings along the way and share those learnings with peers for application to next-gen product development. Embody our Culture and Values Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 1+ year(s) related technical engineering experience OR Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 2+ years related technical engineering experience Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering, or related field OR Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years related technical engineering experience OR Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 5+ years related technical engineering experience OR equivalent experience. Professional experience in the consumer electronics industry, working with suppliers & ODM (Original Design Manufacturer) partners and designing for high volume manufacturing. Experience applying ingenuity, inventiveness, and imagination to the inclusive design and construction of a product, service, program, or initiative. Experience applying best practices in engineering, including policies, procedures, processes, techniques, tools and methodologies that have been optimized for efficiency and effectiveness, and adopted within the organization. Experience performing structural analysis of electronic hardware and/or peripherals using classical methods, handbook formula, design rules, and other commonly availably structural analysis tools. Includes basic knowledge of statics, strength of materials, structural analyses, and familiarity with generally accepted design practices with metals and composites.
