REQUIREMENTS:

  • 5-10 years of professional engineering work experience, preferably in product development
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited program
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and experience with DFM
  • 3D CAD software expertise, SolidWorks preferred
  • Knowledge of SolidWorks Simulation and Photopia Optical Design software, preferred but not required
  • Ability to interpret and apply GD&T
  • Demonstrated success in ensuring cost reduction targets are achieved as outlined in the project scope
  • Demonstrated success working in cross-functional teams through projects or organizations

Responsibilities
  • Lead design and development efforts as part of a multi-disciplinary team, bringing new or improved products to market.
  • Take ownership of complex project deliverables, including detailed design drawings, design reviews, supporting documentation, packaging, and instruction manuals.
  • Provide technical leadership by reviewing and critiquing peers’ designs, ensuring adherence to engineering best practices and integration of lessons learned.
  • Manage and prioritize multiple projects at varying phases of development, balancing short-term deliverables with long-term strategic goals.
  • Identify and mitigate risks early in the design process using structured tools and cross-functional resources.
  • Apply a hands-on approach to mechanical design, collaborating with manufacturing to ensure feasibility, cost efficiency, and scalability.
  • Lead value analysis/value engineering (VA/VE) initiatives to reduce cost, improve processes, and enhance product performance.
  • Partner with engineering, procurement, and manufacturing to evaluate and qualify alternative materials, processes, and suppliers.
  • Analyze product functionality, performance requirements, and cost drivers to optimize overall value without sacrificing safety or quality.
  • Facilitate cross-functional workshops, brainstorming sessions, and design reviews to drive consensus and alignment.
  • Develop and present business cases, technical findings, and recommendations to senior leadership for approval and resource allocation.
  • Track and report cost savings, performance improvements, and implementation status, ensuring that business benefits are realized.
  • Champion continuous improvement, lean manufacturing projects, and standardization initiatives across the engineering function.
  • Stay current with industry advancements in materials, manufacturing processes, and technologies to recommend and implement innovative solutions.
