Your Opportunity As a Mechanical Engineer in Training (EIT) you will work with close guidance and supervision on tasks and smaller projects, and as a team member of larger projects under the guidance of senior engineers/designers within our Buildings Practice. You will participate in the design of HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems on municipal water treatment plants, pumping stations, wastewater treatment plants, hydroelectric power plants, and private industrial water applications in different locations across North America. Every project has its own unique challenges, and you are considered a resource for solutions to those challenges. Your Key Responsibilities Conducts basic interpretations of drawings, codes, and other similar materials. Apply basic understanding of power generation process. Performs design for the mechanical discipline team using knowledge of relevant software programs. Works with other engineering disciplines and professionals in the coordination of the project under the direction of a senior engineer/ designer. Drafts basic technical documents under the direction of a senior engineer/ designer. Performs field work as directed by a senior engineer/ designer. Performs basic calculations to analyze and design individual mechanical system components using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software. Assists with basic engineering duties on projects of various complexity. Assists with collecting data and gathering information to support design decisions. Work as a contributing team member within a multi-discipline team. Understand and work within Stantec's quality control guidelines. Comply with Stantec's EH&S program, with a focus on safety in the field. Complete required mechanical calculations for equipment sizing, material selection, etc. Performs other duties as assigned by the senior engineering staff.
