We are looking for an embedded software engineer to join our dynamic team. Reporting to the Director of Engineering, the Mechanical Designer is responsible for designing, building and testing haptic devices ranging from prototypes to functional demonstrators. They are also responsible for guiding other team members and providing support to the engineering team.
Responsibilities:
- Design haptics systems including mechanical hardware elements and actuation related elements according to the customer requirements of performance and other business metrics using CAD, FEA, and other tools
- Procure parts and perform hands-on mechanical assembly and electrical wiring of components and prototypes
- Develop haptics control processes including both computer-based modeling as well as physical prototyping of the different elements involved
- Perform mechanical and electrical testing to measure the performance of haptic systems in terms of acceleration, frequency, force, voltage, and other properties using tools such as accelerometers, oscilloscopes, load cells, etc.
- Generate IP including patents, document best practices implementation, and work with members of the legal team
- Provide clear and ongoing communication with external parties including clients and collaborators
- Provide training, support, and guidance to other team members
- Participate in meetings, development of timelines and project plans as well as other project management tasks as required
