PA engineering interns gain exposure to product development as members of active project teams. As activities are heavily project-determined, an intern could find themselves involved in different phases of the development cycle. Job Description All candidates must include a portfolio with their resume/application. Salary: $27-$35/hr Duration: 3 months Typical intern activities may include: early phase conceptualization and brainstorming collaboration with cross-disciplinary teams design and fabrication of prototype mechanical models/systems use of SolidWorks or other CAD programs for mechanical design development use of basic shop tools and equipment troubleshooting of models/systems testing/optimization of systems for subsequent commercialization interfacing directly with vendors and potentially clients developing code to interface with electromechanical systems or analyze datasets Qualifications Candidates for this position: will have completed at least their second year of post-high school education by the start of the internship are currently pursuing a BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering or related field and will return to an academic program at the end of the internship are knowledgeable of engineering fundamentals, mechanical design, and material mechanics are flexible, creative, adaptable, and demonstrate a desire to learn effectively communicate their work and ideas to interdisciplinary groups are expected to be fully in-person at the location listed for this position Additional qualities we are looking for: enthusiasm, self-motivation, and the ability to thrive in an informal work environment with minimal supervision aptitude with hand and machine tools familiarity with 3D modeling as a primary tool for engineering development The signing of a non-disclosure agreement to maintain client confidentiality is a necessary condition of employment.
