Description

Lake Superior Consulting is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our growing team!
This is a great opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects centered around the design of energy-related facilities—from early concepts through final delivery. In this position, you’ll play a key role on multidisciplinary engineering teams, applying your technical knowledge to design facilities that support critical energy infrastructure. You’ll also have an opportunity to lead the team on design projects and mentor junior staff and collaborate directly with clients to deliver high-quality solutions tailored to their needs.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience required. Experience in oil and gas is a plus.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, positive attitude, strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to diverse needs and changing project scopes.
  • Eagerness to learn new skills and take initiative.
  • Ability to serve as the mechanical lead on design projects.
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to work effectively in team settings.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • Willingness to travel occasionally, with flexibility based on project needs.
  • Ability to independently perform complex engineering design functions.
Responsibilities
  • Provide engineering expertise for mechanical design; oversee the development of drawing packages, estimating, and functions for projects involving pipelines, process/compression facilities, and other energy industry-related facilities.
  • Provide technical assistance to the Engineering and Operations Departments to resolve operating problems or to establish the best operating practices.
  • Take the initiative to determine the best paths forward for effective project execution.
  • Effectively complete projects using engineering principles and techniques.
  • Read and interpret P&IDs, technical drawings, schematics, equipment specifications, and technical reports.
  • Develop detailed P&IDs.
  • Apply deep knowledge of industry codes such as ASME B31.3, B31.4, B31.8, etc.
  • Produce details for project specifications and develop design requirements for projects.
  • Confer with other engineers and personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information.
  • Perform modifications to computer-aided design (CAD) and drafting functions to assist in completion of project deliverables.
  • Apply strong understanding of materials and material specifications.
  • Perform design analyses, engineering calculations, and write technical reports.
  • Direct and lead project teams to ensure accurate and timely execution.
  • Work with CAD designers to develop drawing packages suitable for project construction.
  • Interpret project scopes and develop effective proposals accordingly.
  • Understand client needs and tailor workflows to meet expectations.
  • Recognize elements of risk within a project and adjust workflows as needed.
  • Provide direction to more junior personnel. Professional Engineers will be required to approve and stamp engineering designs.
