Description
Owning & executing medium-complex Mechanical sub-system projects to design, develop, optimize, & implement design solutions for robotic applications Collaborate with both internal and external CFT to ensure the product design meets its objectives, validate the design through performance testing & obtain approvals by following PDR process Ensures documentation is consistent with SEMI, Lam Standards, and other standards as applicable (ANSI, DIN etc.) as well as best known methods (BKMs) Collaborate with cross-functional teams (electrical, controls, software) to ensure seamless integration of mechanical designs into robotic systems Performs analytical work in order to characterize and properly specify new and existing designs, including heat transfer, stress, vibrations & manufacturability Develops & execute test plans that generate characterization data sufficient to understand and validate the performance of the design Develops & presents reports/presentations of excellent quality that communicate design intent, analysis & validation at design reviews Provide immediate response & timely resolution to escalations & design related production issues encountered during the pilot as well as HVM build process Ability to work well in a matrix organization with aggressive deadlines, ability to align on priorities, etc. while focused to realize end objective Expertise in concept design and development of medium complex mechanical components/simple sub-system as well as Pneumatic system, including integration with robotic tool changers Basic understanding of robotic systems, kinematics, and end-of-arm tooling Application knowledge: hands-on experience on any CAD (NX is preferred) with design, drawing, drawing standards & GD&T Ability to design for automation and precision assembly Hands on experience to take design from concepts (OEM components, sheet metal, metal (machined & weld assembly) & plastics, detail engineering (Tolerance analysis, dFMEA, 8D problem solving, RCCA, 5-why, DFMA), Test plan, Testing, etc. & through detailed drawing, parts procurement, DFM interaction with suppliers, assembly, test, build verification, lessons learned and closure. Ability to identify all technical risks and mitigate them through appropriate calculations; structural, strength, etc. Accountable for releasing complete engineering drawings & bill of materials per “Engineering Change Management Process” in consistent with “DFMA, DFX (cost, manufacturing at min.) & dFMEA” Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with minimum of 3+ years of experience Excellent communication, both written and verbal, and technical presentation skills Highly proficient in 3D CAD tool Siemens NX Hands-on experimental and design background coupled with solid engineering skills Preferred Qualifications Experience in Semiconductor industry is a plus. Experience in project management, managing projects, or problem solving while managing time and multiple priorities.
Responsibilities
The Mechanical Engineer will own and execute medium-complex mechanical sub-system projects for robotic applications, ensuring design solutions meet objectives and validating designs through performance testing. The role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams to integrate mechanical designs and resolve production issues during pilot and high-volume manufacturing builds.
