Description

Tensor Machinery is an ENGINEERING AND MANUFACTURING COMPANY LOCATED IN MONTREAL, specializing in custom-made equipment for the wire and cable industries. Tensor’s technological expertise and quality are recognized throughout the world. Tensor Machinery has been in business since the mid-1980s and has an engineering team, machine shop and assembly area to fully test our products. Tensor machines are automated with PLCs and HMIs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering or an experienced Draftsman with machine design experience
  • Proficient user of SolidWorks and good knowledge of AutoCAD
  • Good understanding of geometric tolerancing
  • Understanding of manufacturing and machining processes so that Engineering drawings contain all required information for the Machinists to fabricate the part independently
  • Experience in selecting commercial items such as motors, actuators, pneumatics, and clutches
  • Proficient in English and French (written and spoken)
Responsibilities
  • Production Support:
  • Collaborate with and support Shop staff to avoid work stoppages in the Shop
  • Produce “Engineering Package” for various Tensor machines and spare parts
  • Create and modify 3D models
  • Produce Manufacturing Drawings
  • Create BOM for Commercial items, Raw Materials Lists
  • Modify existing equipment to suit custom specifications
  • Collaborate and support office staff with Field Service/Purchasing/Supplier inquiries
  • Process Improvement:
  • Help improve Drawing Configuration Management
  • Ensure drawings match what is produced in the shop, document all one-off or permanent fixes
  • Participate in Process Mapping exercise / help improve processes
  • Seek opportunities for R&D / Participate in R&D
  • Contribute to continuous Quality Improvement of existing machines
  • Occasional trips to subcontractors in Quebec and/or trade shows to represent Tensor Machinery (USA)
