Job Overview:
Reporting to the Engineering team and General Manager the Mechanical Engineer is responsible for performing day to day activities for the European division of the Nikkiso Cryoquip Heat Exchanger Group in the role of mechanical engineering and design.

Responsibilities:

  • Realise the process design into a mechanical design or concept which can be released to the workshop for manufacturing.
  • This will take into account process design input from the application engineers and mechanical design, code and internal procedure considerations as required.
  • 2-D drafting using AutoCAD
  • 3-D modeling in Inventor or SolidWorks of heat exchangers, piping valves and other related equipment.
  • Select mechanical components and produce the related justifying documents.
  • Structural design for the skids, their supporting structures and piping.
  • Issue assembly drawings.
  • Issue manufacturing drawings for Production, including detailed assembling instructions and definition of the mechanical fits.
  • Create / modify bills of materials.
  • Prepare Process & Instruments Diagrams (P&ID).
  • Prepare basic electrical drawings on occasion
  • Consider QA and inspection requirements and plan or design accordingly
  • Work with business development team on new capabilities, products, concepts and product development
  • Assist and support with costing and ordering of materials and equipment
  • Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Ideal candidate will have a degree in Mechanical engineering. Knowledge or experience with fluid mechanics and/or pressure vessel design would be highly regarded, but not essential. Applications from new Graduates will be accepted as well as those from applicants with 1-2 years relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of electrical equipment and mechanical equipment is helpful, as well as ability to understand electrical schematics and process & instrumentation diagrams.
  • High level of attention to details and accuracy.
  • Provides clear drawings in accordance with the recommended practices, provides detailed specifications and documents,
  • Identifies problems and evaluates options, considering costs and benefits, to choose the most appropriate solution or corrective action
  • Must have good communication skills to engage across all departments (workshop and office) and company entities. Must also be able to work well with current team members to develop and present ideas and solutions and provide additional support as described above.
  • High self-motivation and initiative, along with good organisation and analytical skills will be important requirements.
  • Computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD and Inventor.
