Focus: We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the design, development, and production of ammunition and related components. This role focuses on process improvement, precision manufacturing, and quality assurance in a high-demand environment.
Mechanical Engineer Essential Job Functions:
- Design and optimize mechanical systems, tooling, and processes for ammunition manufacturing.
- Develop detailed technical drawings and specifications using CAD software.
- Lead testing, failure analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives for production efficiency and product reliability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (production, quality, R&D) to ensure compliance with safety, military, and industry standards.
- Support troubleshooting on manufacturing lines and recommend engineering solutions for process and equipment issues.
Mechanical Engineer Essential Job Functions:
- Bachelor’s degree* in Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum 3 years recent related experience.
- Proficiency in CAD (SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and basic knowledge of materials and ballistics preferred.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001, AS9100, or military standards is a plus.
- This position requires the ability to travel. Travel time will be less than 10%.
LOCATION-SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:
- Must possess a valid US driver’s license.
- This position requires successful vetting as an Employee Possessor in accordance with U.S. Department of Justice and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
- This position requires access to ITAR controlled technical data, and as such, employment will be contingent upon the candidate’s ability to access ITAR controlled technical data pursuant to an export license approved by the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls, if required.
- This position requires successful vetting for unescorted access in accordance with U.S. Army and Department of Defense access policies. The US Government does not allow non-US citizens on-site at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant. Therefore, to be considered in the hiring process, the candidate must be a US citizen.
