DESCRIPTION

This role sits within the Application Engineering team and reports to the Application Engineering Manager. The role supports the design, development and integration of mechanical and electronic solutions for OXTS products and applications. With a strong focus on CAD work (approx. 60%) alongside broader mechanical and electronics tasks (approx. 40%), the role supports internal engineering projects and customer-facing solutions. Working collaboratively across both engineering and other departments, the Mechanical Engineer contributes to high-quality designs, prototypes, and technical outputs that meet evolving customer needs and support ongoing innovation

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISE

  • Degree qualified; Mechanical Engineering or other relevant engineering discipline.
  • Hands on experience using 3D CAD software, ideally SolidWorks 2024, for mechanical design, modelling, and technical drawings.
  • Understanding of mechanical engineering principles and standards from product design to validation.
  • Awareness of electronic components, wiring, and system integration.
  • Exposure to prototyping and hands-on development and testing work.
  • Ability to follow structured design and documentation processes with a strong attention to detail.
  • Comfortable working collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams and communicating technical concepts clearly.
  • Able to work as part of team and as a sole contributor.
  • Have a commercial awareness with regard to product development and customer experience.
  • Enthusiastic and proactive, with a willingness to learn and contribute across a broad range of engineering tasks.
  • Must have a clean driving license.
Responsibilities
  • Produce accurate and detailed CAD models and technical drawings using SolidWorks 2024 to support product and application development.
  • Contribute to the design, prototyping, testing, and documentation of mechanical and electronic solutions as part of project delivery.
  • Create designs for prototype parts and systems, including but not limited to; sub-assemblies, electrical harnesses, bill of materials and assembly instructions.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams and other departments to ensure mechanical and electronic designs align with technical and project requirements.
  • Assist in the integration of both our and third-party products into customer systems, ensuring mechanical and electronic compatibility.
  • Support version control and documentation processes, ensuring traceability and compliance with internal standards.
  • Maintain and improve hardware and design documentation to reflect changes, design rationale, and manufacturing requirements.
  • Participate in project planning and delivery, contributing to timelines, tracking progress, and raising potential risks or improvements.
  • Liaise with the engineering support team to provide insight into customer issues related to mechanical or electronics design.
  • Occasional travel may be required for customer visits, technical shows, or engineering events.
