JOB SUMMARY

The primary responsibility will be the day-to-day activities of the engineering/maintenance teams. Interaction between engineering and production on all issues related to production line maintenance and mechanical downtime.

SPECIAL SKILLS

  • Repair of industrial production equipment such as high-speed machines, conveyors, packaging machines, gearboxes, bearings and hydraulics.
  • TIG Welding, Stainless-steel Fabrication.
  • Knowledge of Bakery, Process or Packaging machinery.
  • Knowledge of Pemac or similar CMMS System.
  • Have a good knowledge of Pneumatics, Hydraulics, Welding, Fabricating and machining.
  • PLC Experience (Siemens S7) an advantage.
  • Proven knowledge of Computerised Engineering systems.
  • Proven knowledge and understanding of Bakery and Packaging machinery.
  • Good people and communication skills.
  • Experience and involvement in Engineering related Projects.

QUALIFICATIONS AND / OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Ideally must have at least 3 years’ experience working as a maintenance engineer within a manufacturing/industrial environment, preferably within the food or packaging industries.
  • Third Level Engineering qualification would be an advantage.
  • Aptitude for electrical engineering.
  • Experience in Line Support & Troubleshooting
Responsibilities

ROLE

  • To ensure efficient running of the production line, follow up on any mechanical issues and comment on production issues.
  • Work in partnership with production team to achieve operational targets.
  • Closely monitor the production line and machine performance.
  • Proactive role online as soon as any deterioration in performance occurs.
  • Attend Engineering team briefings.
  • Maintenance of PM records and ensure all PMs are kept up to date.
  • Receive detailed handover on floor from previous shift.
  • Fill in maintenance handover sheets after engineering work online.
  • Walk line thoroughly, talk to Cell Leaders/Production Operators regarding issues/resolution on the line.
  • Ensure traceability of all Engineering spares.
  • Ensure issues are closed out fully.
  • Ensure permit to work rules are used where required.
  • Involvement in engineering/projects improvements.
  • Involvement in process improvements.
  • Good housekeeping, both in production area and engineering workshop.
  • Participate and comply with safety & hygiene audits.
  • Work under own initiative.
  • Other duties as assigned by Engineering manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work order processing: outstanding jobs, work completed per week and new work orders.
  • Downtime Analysis; top 10 issues in the plant. Focus on frequency by area and major big stops and downtime display by area.
  • PM schedule – weekly, monthly and quarterly in conjunction with production manager. Plan communicated each week and weekend. PMs completed versus planned. Key CMs completed.
  • Be the key contact for engineering support each day. Awareness of issues and performance is critical.
  • Health and Safety – be a champion in this area providing expertise and input.
  • Key input into plant forums; Daily reviews at 10:00, Weekly work order review with production manager, and weekly downtime review with the Engineering manager.
  • Attend shift handovers with the production supervisors at the start of each shift.
