Description

DESCRIPTION

Leading the way in electric vehicle charging, we’ve been at the forefront of adoption in the UK since 2009. With over 250,000 charge points installed so far, out of a total of 1 million in the UK, we make EV ownership simple and affordable.
Partnering with top automotive brands like Mercedes, Jaguar Land Rover, BMW and Kia, as well as energy leaders such as EDF and Centrica, we’ve earned accolades such as the ‘Which? - Trusted Trader’ award and ‘Best for Value, Home EV Chargers - What Car?’
With our international expansion, we aim to transform the EV charging landscape not just in the UK, but now across Europe.
Our Ways of Working
We’re all about flexibility, community and a healthy work-life balance. Our hybrid model offers a ‘best of both worlds’ approach combining the best parts of home and office working. When you’ll be in the office depends on your role, but you can expect to work from our London office between 8-12 days per month.
To support this, the successful applicant should be within a reasonably commutable distance to our office (Gray’s Inn Road, London, WC1X 8HB).
Join the EVolution:
You will play a key role in taking ownership of the end-to-end design, development, and validation of mechanical systems and components within EV charging products, ensuring they are innovative, manufacturable, and meet all functional, safety, and quality standards.

You’ll also be responsible for:

  • Mechanical Design & Development - Take ownership of the end-to-end design and development of mechanical systems and components, ensuring they are functional, manufacturable, and compliant with safety and regulatory standards.
  • Testing, Validation & Documentation - Lead mechanical testing and validation activities, resolve complex technical challenges, and maintain robust documentation to support traceability and knowledge sharing.
  • Cross-Functional Integration & Communication - Collaborate with electrical, firmware, manufacturing, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of mechanical components, while clearly communicating design intent and trade-offs across technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Manufacturing Readiness & Prototyping - Apply deep knowledge of materials and production processes to ensure designs are optimised for manufacturing, while creating and iterating prototypes to drive continuous product improvement.
  • Leadership, Innovation & Continuous Improvement - Provide technical leadership and mentorship within the team, while exploring new tools, technologies, and methodologies to enhance product performance, reliability, and engineering excellence.

ELECTRIFY US WITH YOUR SKILLS:

We think the role would be great for somebody who has previously led the design of complex, production-ready mechanical components — ideally using tools like SolidWorks — and has seen those designs through the full product lifecycle, from concept and prototyping through to validation, manufacturing, and launch, as well as someone with:

  • Mechanical design expertise. I.e. Proficiency in SolidWorks (CAD, simulation, Composer), GD&T, tolerance analysis, and digital rendering tools (e.g. Keyshot, Adobe Suite)
  • Materials & Manufacturing knowledge (e.g. injection moulding, CNC, laser cutting
  • Product Data Management (PDM/PLM) experience.
