Specialized Recruiting Group Kansas City is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineer to join a 100+ year-old sheet metal company near Downtown KC!

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems for manufacturing workflows.
  • Background in rapid prototyping, streamlining process flow, or additive manufacturing.
  • Certification or familiar with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Prior experience working in an ISO 9001 or AS9100 certified environment is a plus.

Responsibilities
  • Design and develop sheet metal parts, enclosures, and assemblies using CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor, etc.).
  • Work closely with production, fabrication, and quality control teams to optimize designs for manufacturability and cost-effectiveness.
  • Develop and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications for fabrication processes.
  • Perform material selection, stress analysis, and tolerance studies to ensure structural integrity and durability of products.
  • Collaborate with customers to understand design requirements and provide technical support for custom projects.
  • Oversee prototype development, testing, and troubleshooting to refine and improve product designs.
  • Develop and implement lean manufacturing and process improvement strategies to optimize production efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and quality control requirements in sheet metal fabrication.
  • Support cost estimation and quoting by providing technical expertise and feasibility assessments.
  • Maintain accurate engineering documentation, bill of materials (BOMs), and revision control for all designs.
