Description

About Us
Red Research Group is an innovation-driven company focused on developing cutting-edge solutions that bridge mechanical engineering with embedded electronics. We design and build high-performance systems where precision, durability, and thermal reliability are critical. Our team thrives at the intersection of engineering disciplines, solving complex challenges in product development from concept to production.
Role Overview
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer with strong expertise in SolidWorks and a deep understanding of electronics enclosures, thermal management, and system integration. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience designing enclosures for embedded electronics, optimizing for manufacturability, ruggedness, and heat dissipation while ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, modeling, and documentation of mechanical components and assemblies using SolidWorks.
  • Develop enclosures for embedded electronics, balancing structural integrity, aesthetics, and functional performance.
  • Conduct thermal analysis and design to ensure proper heat dissipation and long-term system reliability.
  • Collaborate closely with electrical engineers to ensure seamless integration of PCBs, connectors, wiring, and sensors.
  • Evaluate materials, manufacturing methods, and surface finishes for optimal cost and performance.
  • Perform tolerance analysis, DFM/DFA reviews, and prepare documentation for prototyping and production.
  • Support testing and validation of prototypes, iterating designs based on results and feedback.
  • Work with suppliers and contract manufacturers to ensure high-quality deliverables and scalability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in product design, preferably in electronics enclosures or precision mechanical systems.
  • Strong proficiency with SolidWorks (part modeling, assemblies, drawings, simulation tools).
  • Experience with thermal considerations in electronic packaging (heat sinks, airflow, conductive/convective cooling).
  • Familiarity with manufacturing methods: CNC machining, injection molding, sheet metal, 3D printing, etc.
  • Ability to perform tolerance stack-up, stress analysis, and thermal simulation.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with electrical, firmware, and manufacturing teams.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with IP-rated enclosure design (dustproof, waterproof).
  • Knowledge of thermal simulation software (Ansys, COMSOL, or SolidWorks Simulation).
  • Familiarity with EMI/RFI shielding techniques in enclosure design.
  • Experience in defense, aerospace, or ruggedized electronics industries.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • Opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects with a cross-disciplinary team.
  • Growth potential in a rapidly expanding company.
  • Collaborative and innovative culture where your ideas have direct impact.
