Job Title: Mechanical Engineer – Product and Manufacturing Location: West Chester, Ohio/Hybrid Job Status: Full-Time Reports To: Infrastructure & Engineering Manager The Mechanical Engineer – Product and Manufacturing owns the technical lifecycle of our physical, secure access products and components. This role is responsible for leading end-to-end development and manufacturing, ensuring that product designs are thoroughly optimized for quality, cost efficiency, and manufacturability. The ideal candidate will effectively integrate creative design thinking with comprehensive technical analysis, and will excel at collaborating across internal departments, supply chain vendors, and manufacturing partners to deliver outstanding results. Responsibilities and Duties: Lead the mechanical design and development of physical secure access products from concept to finished goods for the consumer and commercial real estate markets. Implement lean six sigma methodologies to eliminate waste, reduce manufacturing defects, and optimize production cycle times. Maintain rigorous ISO 9001 standards across all engineering activities, ensuring Design History Files (DHF) and technical document control are audit ready and standardized. Champion Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFM/DFA) initiatives, overseeing tooling evaluations, fixture design, and preproduction certifications. Identify and technically vet new manufacturing vendors, leading on-site audits and QMS reviews to certify suppliers against quality and scalability requirements. Manage the Approved Supplier List (ASL) through performance scorecards and drive technical root cause analysis via Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCAR) for any quality defects. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering – Required 5+ years progressive experience in electro mechanical, consumer product design and manufacturing, including injection molding, metal stamping, forming, and assembly processes – Required Expert 3D CAD skills (SolidWorks) with advanced knowledge of GD&T and Lean Six Sigma – Required Proven experience with injection molded plastics, ferrous and non-ferrous metals, and sustainable materials. Must understand the impact of additives and finishes on part performance. Exemplary verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Ability to type, deliver presentations, look at a computer screen, sit and/or stand for long periods of time.
