Description

SUMMARY:

Lithion Battery is a vertically integrated manufacturer of cells and rechargeable battery packs serving the Medical, Energy, Robotics, Industrial, and Military/Defense markets. Lithion Battery partners with OEM manufacturers and end users to provide custom, high-quality power solutions for mission-critical applications where reliability is paramount.
The Senior Mechanical Engineer leads the design, development, testing, and documentation of complex mechanical components and assemblies. This role requires advanced mechanical engineering expertise, ownership of major projects, and the ability to mentor junior engineers. Working closely with cross-functional teams and external suppliers, the Senior Mechanical Engineer ensures products meet performance, reliability, and manufacturability requirements throughout the product lifecycle.

QUALIFICATIONS & KEY COMPENTENCIES:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master’s preferred).
  • 5+ years of mechanical design experience, preferably in energy storage, electronics, or mission-critical industries.
  • Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks (3D modeling, 2D drafting, GD&T, tolerance stack-up).
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, materials, and manufacturing methods (sheet metal, plastics, machining, welding, adhesives, coatings).
  • Hands-on experience with engineering analysis tools (FEA, CFD, or equivalent).
  • Familiarity with product lifecycle management (PLM) systems and engineering change processes.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to independently lead technical projects.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including technical reporting and presentations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% as needed.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted.
Responsibilities
  • Create, review, and release 3D models and 2D drawings using SolidWorks, applying GD&T and tolerance analysis to ensure manufacturability and compliance with engineering standards.
  • Lead development of bills of materials (BOMs), part specifications, and assembly documentation for complex products and systems.
  • Perform engineering analyses (FEA, thermal, vibration, fatigue, structural) to validate designs against requirements.
  • Manage prototype builds and testing, analyze results, and implement design improvements.
  • Support production by troubleshooting mechanical issues, driving root cause investigations, and implementing corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to evaluate components, resolve technical challenges, and optimize designs for cost and manufacturability.
  • Act as a subject matter expert during design reviews, providing guidance on engineering best practices.
  • Mentor and review work of junior engineers to support skill development and maintain quality standards.
  • Maintain engineering documentation in accordance with PLM processes, revision control, and company standards.
  • Work with Quality, Production, and Supply Chain to ensure smooth handoffs from design to manufacturing.
  • Provide regular updates to the Engineering Manager on technical risks, progress, and design changes.
  • Perform other engineering tasks as assigned.
