Job Summary: We are looking for a highly experienced Mechanical Engineer, Technician, or Marine Architect with a strong background in crane design. This is a remote, part-time, on-call position ideal for a seasoned professional seeking flexible work. The primary responsibilities will involve providing expert technical support in the preparation of Request for Quotations (RFQs) and the subsequent evaluation of proposals for various crane applications, with a particular focus on validating and determining precise crane design specifications.

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Architecture, or a related technical field; or equivalent significant professional experience as a Technician in crane design.
· Significant and demonstrable experience in the design of cranes is essential.
· Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation is ideal.
· Bonus points for specific experience in designing cranes for shipboard applications or other marine environments.
· Strong understanding of mechanical systems, structural analysis, hydraulics, and control systems relevant to crane operations.
· Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings, specifications, and industry standards.
· Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical documentation and collaboration.
· Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote, on-call capacity.

Responsibilities

· Collaborate with project teams to understand specific crane application needs and requirements.
· Validate and determine accurate technical specifications for new crane procurements, ensuring alignment with operational demands, safety standards, and industry best practices.
· Prepare comprehensive and clear Request for Quotations (RFQs) documents, detailing all necessary technical and performance criteria for crane systems.
· Conduct thorough technical evaluations of proposals received from vendors, assessing compliance with specifications, technical feasibility, and overall suitability.
· Provide expert insights and recommendations during the vendor selection process.
· Maintain up-to-date knowledge of crane technologies, regulations, and market trends.
