OVERVIEW
Our client, a leading paper manufacturer in Northern Ontario with over 100 years of history, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer/Technician to join their team.
With ambitious plans for improvement, the goal is to ensure the mill is a pulp, paper, and energy super facility supporting regional sawmills and utilizing available forest biomass. They are well placed to invest in innovative practices to enhance productivity and ensure a sustainable future for the facilities, employees and the community.
Reporting to the Manufacturing Services Manager, the Technician will oversee the planning, execution, and optimization of mechanical systems and projects to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective papermill operations.
REQUIREMENTS
· 3+ years experience in the field or related field.
· Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Technologist post-secondary education.
· Member of a Canadian Professional Engineers Association is an asset.
· Excellent organizational, problem-solving, troubleshooting and communication skills.
· English (spoken and written) and French would be considered an asset.
· Perform weekend duty when required.
· Support compliance with collective agreement and sound union / management / employee relations.
· Promote and provide a safe workplace, seek improvements, support Health Safety Program.
· Manage and lead projects, project assistance and studies assigned while abiding to environmental guidelines and regulations.
· Abide by internal procedures and controls for engineering and construction activities that conform to sound financial maintenance and operating plans.
· Ensure capital projects are prepared and completed in conformance with CPA guidelines and controls.
· Advise and recommend changes or opportunities to the mill to reduce operating costs.
· Identify capital projects providing opportunities to maximize profitability to operations.
· Recommending spare parts and purchasing standard equipment.
