Description

Codetta Bio is seeking a junior-level Mechanical Engineer for a temporary role to support the development and refinement of our life science instrumentation. The ideal candidate will be skilled at working with existing CAD models, generating high-quality SOLIDWORKS drawings, and applying proper tolerancing and GD&T principles to ensure manufacturability and reliability.
This is a hands-on role within dynamic team, offering the opportunity to contribute directly to hardware that impacts the future of biological research.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with existing CAD models to update, modify, and improve mechanical components and assemblies.
  • Create and revise detailed SOLIDWORKS part and assembly drawings, including accurate GD&T and tolerances.
  • Support prototype builds and work closely with engineers and external vendors to ensure design intent is met.
  • Conduct tolerance stack-up analyses to validate manufacturability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional team members (mechanical, electrical, and assay team) to ensure designs align with system requirements.
  • Document design changes, drawing revisions, and release to manufacturing in an organized manner.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related field), or equivalent practical experience.
  • 1–3+ years of relevant mechanical engineering experience (internships or co-op experience welcome).
  • Proficiency in SOLIDWORKS (part, assembly, and drawing modules).
  • Knowledge of GD&T, tolerancing, and DFM principles.
  • Experience preparing fabrication-ready drawings for machined, sheet metal, or injection-molded parts.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and communication skills.
  • Must be local to the Research Triangle Park (RTP), NC area or willing to reliably commute.

Additional Information:
This is a temporary position with the potential for extension based on project needs.
Compensation is based on experience
