Description U.S. Citizenship Required. This position requires a current SECRET or TOP SECRET clearance. Candidate must be SAP and SCI program eligible. The position is in-person and not remote. Toyon is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support a critical infrastructure protection program. In this role, you will work closely with Toyon’s engineering team and client stakeholders, supporting the analysis and design of specialized air handling units, development of drawings and specifications, and troubleshooting operational issues. Job assignments include a range of office and on-site work to meet with stakeholders and oversee implementation of government-approved initiatives. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Architectural or Mechanical Engineering and a minimum of 10 years relevant experience Mechanical system design expertise, including air handling units (AHUs), ducting, fans, motors, and controls Experience with advanced filtration technology specification and design, including HEPA/ULPA, activated carbon, and UVGI Application of air quality and testing standards, such as ASHRAE, ISO, and ANSI. Experience with specialized or high-containment air systems, such as cleanrooms, biosafety labs (BSL), or defense/industrial filtration systems Field experience in troubleshooting or optimizing filtration and air handling performance Project management experience overseeing design through submittals, installation and system startup Preferred Skills and Certifications Professional Engineering license (active or ability to reactivate) Knowledge of contaminant capture and removal, including particulate, chemical, and biological filtration media and filter frames Data-driven analytical skills for airflow, pressure drop, and filter performance modeling Understanding of vibration, noise, and mechanical balancing in rotating equipment Familiarity with air leakage rate testing and application in system design requirements Knowledge of envelope sealing measures and methods to reduce air leakage rates Proficiency in CAD and modeling software, such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or Revit WE OFFER AN EXCEPTIONAL EMPLOYEE BENEFITS PACKAGE!
