Description

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Mechanical Engineer will report directly to the Maintenance Manager and will direct contractors, coordinate with maintenance and others in the planning and execution of capital projects and related activities. The Mechanical Engineer will also interact with other members of management and the Corporate Engineer to ensure effective communication to support the performance of this position.
Specific Responsibilities

Specific primary responsibilities are defined by the following, but not limited to:

  • Develops, implements, and maintains capital investment projects and programs.
  • Designs and implements engineering processes, policies and procedures.
  • Development and management of the engineering project portfolio.
  • Monitoring and reporting of capital spending.
  • Capital project development including scope, schedule, budget estimate, and risk

identification and contractor selection.

  • Responsible for oversite and actively managing new installation and equipment

improvements.

  • Hands on troubleshooting of complex integrated electrical, mechanical and hydraulic

equipment.

  • Identifies and implements process, equipment and functional improvements to achieve

operational and overall business metrics.

  • Set engineering strategies to support business objectives
  • Manages all major outages throughout the plant while coordinating equipment

rebuilds. Coordinates major outage activities with respective manages/supervisors to

minimize downtime.

  • Ensures continuation and improvement of compliance of plant-wide programs including,

but not limited to: Thermography program, Vibration program, Oil sampling program.

  • Provides leadership, coaching and direction to maintenance technicians in all aspects of

their work.

  • Provides expertise in the principles of root cause analysis (RCA) and Reliability Centered

Maintenance to create an environment of continuous asset reliability improvement.

  • Establishes and maintains continuous improvement efforts for troubleshooting skills for

maintenance group.

  • Leads Continuous Improvement efforts throughout the plant using lean manufacturing

principles.

  • Supports maintenance effort on all Quality and Continuous Improvement teams and

initiatives.

  • Sustain calibrations on all furnace testing devices and instrumentation.
  • Plan outages for furnaces.
  • Actively participates in special projects at additional facility locations as required.

Operational

Ensures compliance of all safety requirements by Maintenance employees during outage including, but not limited to:

  • Crane safety
  • Fire protection
  • General safety/environmental required activities.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
