Job description
VCI is currently seeking an onsite full-time Mechanical Engineer with specialization in HVAC systems at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Topeka, KS to oversee the VA’s onsite construction expansion.

Relevant Experience

  • Minimum 6 years of experience in construction or design.
  • Experience on healthcare projects/facilities is preferred but not required.

Required Skills and Knowledge

  • Knowledge of Mechanical Engineering (HVAC) building code jurisdiction requirements and ability to quickly master the requirements of the VA federal jurisdictions for the requirements of this project.
  • Provide project construction management services onsite and shall provide recommendations to the VA in regard to business, technical, and project management involving multi-disciplinary and diverse functional activities.
  • Validate technical quality, cost and schedule; maintain daily progress reports and inspection reports; and be a member of the inspection and quality assurance teams assigned to projects to ensure timely and effective project oversight.

Education:

  • Required B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET or NAAB accredited school with an additional preference for a Professional Engineering License in any state within the US.
