Description
YOUR MISSION AT VOI As a Mechanical Engineer in our Vehicle HW & QA team, you will play a key role in the development of our next‑generation hardware, ensuring it meets our high standards of repairability, reliability and performance. You will work end to end with our suppliers, taking a lead on requirement and specification setting, testing and verification, and design reviews. You will also create and review detailed mechanical drawings and CAD models, especially for assemblies where Voi needs to take design ownership. This is a unique opportunity to shape how we roll out micromobility solutions worldwide. You will: Drive end‑to‑end co‑development of hardware with suppliers, ensuring alignment with Voi’s mechanical requirements, specifications and quality targets. Create, review and maintain mechanical drawings and CAD models, and work with suppliers on assemblies where Voi takes design control. Evaluate and verify supplier designs through design reviews, teardowns, testing and verification activities to safeguard performance, quality and reliability. Perform hands‑on assessments and drive design improvements with a strong focus on reliability, repairability, serviceability. Investigate in‑field failures after launch, determine root causes and implement mitigation and resolution actions together with suppliers and internal teams. Collaborate closely with colleagues in Vehicle HW & QA, IoT & Vehicle SW, procurement, supply chain, QA and local market teams to deliver seamless solutions. Travel regularly (e.g. quarterly) to China and occasionally to Voi markets in Europe for close collaboration with suppliers and hands‑on fieldwork. WHAT YOU NEED TO EMBARK You are a hands‑on and collaborative mechanical engineer who enjoys working closely with suppliers and cross‑functional teams to deliver robust, repairable and reliable hardware at scale. We believe you have: A bachelor’s degree (or higher) in an engineering discipline, ideally mechanical, or equivalent practical experience. Strong experience working end to end with suppliers (ideally Chinese) and the mechanical development process, including requirement setting, testing and verification, and design reviews. Excellent skills in CAD, CAE and FEA, including creating and reviewing high‑quality mechanical drawings and driving design improvements for repairability, serviceability and reliability. Experience with structured quality and risk tools such as DFMEA, PFMEA and reliability testing, and translating findings into concrete design or process changes. Proven ability to collaborate crossfunctionally and to manage multiple projects in parallel. Excellent problem‑solving and communication skills; bonus if you are data‑driven (e.g. SQL) and/or speak Chinese in addition to fluent English. Don’t meet every requirement? If you are excited about this role and our mission, and have relevant, transferable skills, we encourage you to apply – even if you don’t check every box. WHY VOI? Working at Voi is more than just a job; our People Promise includes a personal voyage where you will grow as a professional and be a part of a team and culture that builds something meaningful for society.
