Location: Huddersfield, West Yorkshire
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Salary: Competitive, based on experience
Hours: Monday to Friday

REQUIREMENTS

  • Proven mechanical engineering experience, preferably within water treatment, utilities, or similar process industries.
  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Proficiency in mechanical fitting, pipework (plastic and stainless), and system installations.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and engineering schematics.
  • Comfortable working in both workshop and industrial site environments.
  • Full UK driving licence (essential).
  • CSCS card or equivalent (preferred but not essential).
  • Flexibility to travel as required.
Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

An established engineering company in the water and wastewater treatment industry is seeking a practical, hands-on Mechanical Engineer to support the design, build, and commissioning of treatment systems. The role involves a mix of workshop-based and on-site work, including mechanical assembly, installation, maintenance, and support on a wide variety of projects across the UK.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assemble and install mechanical systems and equipment both in-house and on-site.
  • Interpret mechanical engineering drawings and P&IDs accurately.
  • Fabricate and modify parts such as pipework, tanks, and supporting framework.
  • Perform routine maintenance and fault finding on pumps, valves, filters, and dosing systems.
  • Assist with system commissioning and testing (including alignment and pressure tests).
  • Work alongside project teams and site supervisors to deliver projects to specification.
  • Ensure safe working practices and equipment upkeep in line with H&S regulations.
  • Travel to customer sites across the UK, with occasional overnight stays.
