JOB SUMMARY

International Water-Guard designs and builds heaters, treatment units and other components for aircraft potable water systems. Our Engineering department is currently seeking a mechanical/ mechatronics engineering co-op student who can work for an 8 month co-op term starting in September. In this role, you will work with the engineering team on building, testing, commissioning and running new test rigs to support product development as well as working on updating existing test rigs. You will be exposed to new aircraft product development procedures, design of the physical and electronic components of various test rigs, basic software coding, building the test rigs, writing test procedures and test reports, troubleshooting test rigs and the units under test.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

· Enrolment in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering Co-op Program
· Excellent English written and verbal communication skills in
· Basic CAD drafting skills – SolidWorks preferred
· Basic understanding of dimensioning and tolerances
· Ability to read and understand 2D and 3D mechanical drawings
· Basic understanding of mechanical parts (fasteners, pipes, fittings)
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
· Great work ethic and a willingness to learn
· Self-motivated and conscientious worker
· Team oriented
· Proficiency with basic electrical & mechanical and hand-tools
· Use of test equipment, including oscilloscopes & digital multimeters
· Basic understanding of electronic components and circuits including sensors, motors and actuators
· Experience with soldering/crimping and general electrical assembly
· Basic software programing skills an asset
· Basic understanding of electrical schematic symbols and electrical drawings an asset

ABILITIES REQUIRED

The ability to safely move around in a shop environment and occasionally operate hand tools and machinery.
The ability to occasionally lift objects up to 15kg.

Responsibilities

· Assist with assembling of test rigs including, wiring, sensors, controllers, motors, actuators and digital interfaces
· Assist with commissioning test rigs verifying function, automation and data recording
· Assist with testing and troubleshooting of test rigs and units under test
· Assist with documenting the test rigs in SolidWorks
· Report writing/updating
· Support continuous improvement on existing test rigs and products, including modifying, documenting and repairing wiring, sensors, controllers and digital interfaces
· Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, electronics and software engineers & designers as well as production staff for all design, documentation and testing activities
· Other tasks as assigned by the Engineering Manager.
