JOB SUMMARY

MOBB Healthcare is seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Engineering Design Technologist to join our product development team. The successful candidate will assist in the design, development, and testing of innovative healthcare and mobility products that enhance quality of life and support independent living. This role involves creating design solutions that meet performance, safety, cost, and quality objectives while contributing to the advancement of user-focused medical equipment.

EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • Completion of a two- or three-year college program in mechanical engineering design technology, mechanical engineering technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum 1–2 years of relevant work experience in mechanical product design and prototyping preferred.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks (required) and familiarity with AutoCAD or similar design software.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, and design for manufacturability (DFM).
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Certification as a Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) is an asset but not required.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and manage design projects from concept through to final production, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to milestones.
  • Design mechanical components, assemblies, and systems for healthcare and mobility-related products using SolidWorks and other CAD software.
  • Create 3D prototypes and physical models for validation, functional testing, and manufacturing.
  • Use workshop equipment for product development, prototyping, and assembly.
  • Prepare detailed technical drawings, 3D models, and engineering documentation for production.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, manufacturing, and quality) to ensure project feasibility, safety, and production readiness.
  • Support new product development and improve existing designs based on test results and user feedback.
  • Conduct product sample quality verification to ensure compliance with healthcare industry design and performance standards.
  • Implement design modifications to reduce material costs and optimize manufacturing processes.
  • Conduct stress testing, tolerance analysis, and functional evaluations of prototypes under real-world conditions.
  • Participate in product shoots and create technical documentation for presentation and marketing purposes.
  • Perform material selection and design optimization to enhance durability, safety, and functionality.
