About the Role Reporting to the Manager Engineering and Maintenance, this critical leadership role is responsible for the control and management of mechanical activities across the mine. You will provide strategic mechanical direction, ensure compliance with legislation, and drive asset management practices to maintain safety and operational performance. This opportunity will allow you to demonstrate your leadership, knowledge, and skills in establishing mechanical engineering standards, investigating incidents, and coaching stakeholders, while offering a clear career path for future succession planning at Centurion. Duties will include: Control and management of mechanical activities at the mine Develop, implement, and monitor mechanical engineering standards in line with legislation and risk assessment Stewardship of asset management practices for mechanical plant and equipment Provide strategic mechanical direction for design, selection, commissioning, maintenance, and overhaul/repair of mine infrastructure Lead investigations into mechanical incidents, identify causation, and develop elimination strategies Deliver technical support and coaching for internal and external stakeholders About You Relevant Mechanical qualification (post-trade and engineering qualifications highly regarded) Hold or be advanced in obtaining BOE recognition as a Mechanical Engineering Manager Supervisory and risk management competencies relevant to the role More than 5 years’ experience in an equivalent or similar role in an underground coal mine Proven track record as an industry safety leader in mechanical engineering practice Strong ability using contemporary ERP systems (SAP preferred) Contemporary understanding of mechanical engineering challenges in high-capacity longwall mining Proficient communicator able to articulate systems and concepts across all levels of the operation A “can-do” approach that engages others into action for successful outcomes The Lifestyle This position is offered on a 9-day fortnight roster (Monday to Friday, Monday to Thursday) and can allow for a residential (Moranbah) DIDO or FIFO lifestyle.
