THE OPPORTUNITY:

WSP is currently seeking a Mechanical Co-Op Student to join our Mechanical Department, located at our Victoria office. WSP’s mechanical engineering team in Victoria engages in various projects in the commercial, industrial, healthcare, educational, light industrial and transportation sectors in BC and the Yukon. Reporting to a mechanical Project Manager, this position will be responsible for assisting in mechanical design and documentation technical work including drafting and calculations, construction reviews and administration.

• You’ll be using your expertise to assist in the design of mechanical systems for a wide variety of building types and locations throughout BC and the Yukon in the institutional and commercial sectors.
• You will be participating with a design team of mechanical engineers and technicians, focused on technical solutions, developing mechanical designs, assisting with the preparation of project drawings, calculation and construction administration.
• You’ll be communicating with members of the mechanical design team.
• You may be working on the design of the following mechanical systems:
• Heating, ventilation, air conditioning and controls
• plumbing
• fire protection sprinklers
• You’ll be preparing system calculations utilizing industry standard HVAC load analysis software
• You’ll be preparing project drawings utilizing industry standard CAD and Revit softwareYou’ll be designing systems in compliance with the BC Building Code, ASHRAE Standards, and other codes as required.
