ABOUT US:
Coastal Offroad is an online retailer of aftermarket products for off road vehicles. Founded in 2017 by a UVic Mechanical Engineering graduate, Coastal Offroad was born as the answer to a hole in the market for offroad vehicle products that are highly functional, reasonably priced, and compliment the aesthetics of the vehicle. All of our products are designed and manufactured in-house and we serve Canada, USA, New Zealand and Australia. Our production facility is located in Delta, BC, where we produce our Coastal Offroad products and provide metal manufacturing services to a variety of other industries. Most of the product development and business management is done from our secondary shop in Metchosin/Victoria, BC, which is where this position is located.
We at Coastal Offroad are highly motivated individuals who take pride in our work and are passionate about sharing our love for 4x4 offroad driving with our customers. We believe it’s the small details that make a big difference and we employ this philosophy with every single one of our products and customer interactions. It is essential that the candidate for this position shares that mentality and builds on our positive reputation.
JOB OVERVIEW:
We are looking for a highly motivated 4x4 enthusiast to work with the owner of the company in all of his daily engineering and management tasks. This highly varied role will include prototyping new products in the shop, helping manage the company from the office, and testing products in the mountains.
Our ideal candidate is someone who loves 4 wheel driving and any adjacent outdoor activities like mountain biking and camping. They have extensive experience fixing and modifying cars, including basic welding and metal fabrication skills. They must be very detail orientated and have the initiative and confidence to research a given task and then go and get it done with minimal guidance. The ultimate goal of this individual will be to save the owner time so that they can speed up the high impact tasks that will move the company forwards.
We are looking for a top-achiever who wants to grow with the company. We also value work-life balance and fair compensation – your 4 day work week will be flexible and we will give generous raises and bonuses to a candidate who works hard and shows extreme ownership of their role.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field
Experience maintaining and modifying vehicles
Passion for 4x4 offroad driving and is active on 4x4 social media and forums
Has a good eye for aesthetics and is competent with taking pictures and videos (video editing experience an asset)
Proficient in general hands-on tasks that come up in a small shop environment (MIG welding, drilling and grinding steel, fixing and maintaining tools)
Detail oriented and proactive - can be given a task, research the required knowledge, and then efficiently complete it to a high standard
Proficient in creating sheet metal parts and assemblies with Solidworks and can produce PDF and DXF file packages for manufacturing.
