Description

We are currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer Technician to join the Maintenance team in our Richmond Hill location on a Rotating Shift - the shift will run from 6am-4:30pm for 3 months then you’ll be asked to work one month of 5pm-3:30am before restarting the cycle. The Millwright will be responsible to inspect, repair, replace, install, and maintain mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot equipment problems and perform immediate repairs and preventative maintenance on equipment;
  • Responsible for performing assigned maintenance work on large and small producing units.
  • Overhaul and install new equipment;
  • Rebuild and fabricate parts;
  • Generate parts request to ensure adequate inventory;
  • Generate and complete work orders as assigned;
  • Inspect, install, repair, replace, adjust all mechanical equipment in the plant.
  • Determine the best way of making repairs to minimize interruption of production.
  • Assemble or align gears, bearings and shafts, involving press, sliding and running fits, align pumps, motors, turbines and gear reducers.
  • Advise when immediate shut down of equipment is necessary to minimize damage or when temporarily continued operation will have no harmful effect.
  • Demonstrate strong safety awareness by wearing personal protective equipment at all times, performing duties in a safe manner and continually maintaining a clean and safe work area.

Requirements:

  • 2 + years experience in a similar role.
  • Millwright certificate (433A) as recognized by the Ontario College of Trades is an asset.
  • Electrical experience is an asset.
  • Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Knowledge of equipment maintenance and/or service.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools.
  • Prior diagnostic/troubleshooting and preventative maintenance experience preferred.
  • Strong communication skills both verbally and written.
  • Basic computer skills is an asset.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
  • A motivated team player with a “can-do” attitude that is able to troubleshoot, focus and organize work area.
  • Possess the ability to work productively, efficiently, and effectively while maintaining high attention to detail and quality.
  • Quick learner with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.
