MECHANICAL ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGIST

Simplicity Air Ltd has an immediate opening for a Mechanical Engineering Technologist. The Mechanical Engineering Technologist is responsible for designing, developing, and testing mechanical components, machinery, and equipment by applying engineering principles. This role involves defining manufacturing processes, ensuring effective assembly, and optimizing production efficiency. The Technologist will support our products and HVAC systems by collaborating with the Electronics Engineering Technicians and Product Development Technologists and actively participating in production support..

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • College diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology.
  • 3 years of experience in SolidWorks.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks for mechanical design.
  • 3 years of experience in designing and drafting mechanical components and assemblies.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and experience with root cause analysis.
  • Working knowledge of risk analysis and relevant legislative compliance.
  • Advanced mathematical skills, such as calculus and differential equations.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with moderate complexity.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to identify problems and propose solutions.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills across various departments.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with engineering developments.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent computer skills: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and e-mail).
  • Flexible and adaptable to a fast-paced service environment.

Responsibilities

Mechanical Design: Create and draft sheet metal parts, structural components, and assemblies for HVAC products and vehicle mounts using SolidWorks.
Component Specification: Specify and draft hoses for air conditioning refrigerants, engine coolant, and other fluids.
Testing & Documentation: Conduct product testing, document results, and identify manufacturing needs for new developments.
Production Processes: Develop and implement production processes, lead productivity improvements, and design new systems to enhance efficiency, quality, safety, and cost-effectiveness.
Project Management: Manage various phases or tasks of moderate complexity projects, ensuring alignment with project milestones and completion using Zo-Ho.
Assembly & Tooling: Design fixtures and tooling for assembly tasks, generate production documentation such as assembly work instructions and oversee machinery installation.
Quality Assurance: Perform root cause analysis and resolution for quality issues from suppliers and internal sources using NCR and SCAR tools.
Documentation & Collaboration: Maintain comprehensive project documentation, log project time in Zo-Ho for accurate billing, and collaborate with departments such as Production, Quality, Marketing, Sales, and Purchasing.
Safety & Compliance: Ensure designs are safe, efficient, and manufacturable, and keep up to date with engineering trends.
