Responsibilities

ROLE OVERVIEW:

We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer (Mechanical Engineers will be considered) with proven experience to join our team and lead the delivery and project management of Mechanical Services Design on assigned projects. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and improving the quality and efficiency of mechanical services design and post-contract implementation. You will supervise junior engineering staff, assisting in their development, and act as the lead consultant, providing M&E representation and input at key project stages.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Leadership and Supervision:

  • Lead the delivery and management of Mechanical Services Design on projects.
  • Supervise junior engineering staff, assisting in their personal development.
  • Act as the lead consultant on projects, ensuring M&E requirements are communicated and delivered effectively.

Concept and Detailed Design:

  • Develop Mechanical strategies and Concept Designs as part of the RIBA Stage 1, 2 & 3 Design Process.
  • Prepare scheme design drawings and detailed Mechanical Services design.
  • Prepare outline M&E specifications and assist in BCIS elemental M&E cost plans.
  • Plan and programme Mechanical detailed design processes and ensure quality standards are met.

Project Management:

  • Manage multiple projects and ensure delivery dates are met.
  • Represent Harley Haddow at site meetings and monitor Mechanical Installation works.
  • Assist Project QS in cost control and final account settlement.
  • Ensure project closure and conclusion of all defects, reviewing test certifications, and conducting de-briefs.

Software Proficiency:

  • Use design software including CAD, Revit, Bluebeam, Hevacomp, IES, Chorus, and Microsoft Word/Excel.
  • Develop the abilities of Assistant and Apprentice Engineers in using all software packages.

Client Interaction:

  • Represent Harley Haddow through direct contact with clients and other design team members.
  • Prepare and deliver project presentations to client teams.
  • Attend design team meetings and disseminate information to the Harley Haddow team.
