JOB SUMMARY:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Mechanical Estimator with specialized knowledge in mechanical insulation for HVAC and plumbing systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for accurately estimating project costs, analyzing blueprints, specifications, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for insulation work on mechanical systems. This role requires a strong understanding of insulation materials, methods, and industry standards.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Proven experience as a Mechanical Estimator, specifically in mechanical insulation (HVAC and plumbing).
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems and insulation applications (fiberglass, elastomeric, mineral wool, etc.).
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications.
• Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., QuickBid, Trimble, Bluebeam, MS Excel).
• Excellent math, analytical, and organizational skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience working with commercial and industrial HVAC/plumbing projects.
• Knowledge of LEED, energy efficiency codes, or insulation-related environmental standards.
• Familiarity with construction management platforms (e.g., Procore, PlanGrid).

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred).
• 3+ years of experience in estimating mechanical insulation projects.

• Review mechanical drawings, specifications, and bid documents to determine scope of insulation work.
• Prepare detailed cost estimates for mechanical insulation (HVAC ductwork, piping, plumbing systems).
• Calculate material quantities, labor hours, and subcontractor costs.
• Identify potential cost-saving opportunities and value engineering alternatives.
• Communicate and coordinate with project managers, engineers, and vendors.
• Maintain and update a database of pricing, vendors, and historical estimates.
• Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits as required.
• Ensure all estimates comply with industry codes, safety standards, and company guidelines.
• Provide support during project execution and assist with change orders and cost tracking.
• Stay updated on insulation materials, tools, market pricing, and installation techniques.
