ESSENTIAL SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Time-served plumber (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent) or proven mechanical industry background
  • Strong mechanical technical knowledge and understanding of building services
  • Excellent multitasking and time management skills
  • Clear communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Motivated, disciplined, and confident working both independently and within a team
  • Organised approach to planning and prioritising workloads

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a mechanical estimating role
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Familiarity with Trimble (Amtech) Estimating Software or similar platforms

With operations spanning Commercial, Education, Healthcare, Heritage, Hospitality, Life Sciences, and Residential sectors, our client is now seeking an experienced Mechanical Estimator to join their Commercial team.
This is a key role offering long-term career development in a collaborative and fast-paced environment. Based in either Belfast or Pomeroy, you will play a central role in securing major mechanical packages across a variety of high-value projects.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare detailed mechanical take-offs from cost plans, D&B concepts, and fully designed schemes
  • Manage tenders from initial enquiry through to handover to the contracts team
  • Liaise with sub-contractors, vendors, and suppliers to obtain quotations and support tender development
  • Interpret mechanical drawings and schematics to prepare accurate pricing
  • Create and maintain schedules of rates and tender summaries
  • Identify value engineering opportunities and highlight potential risks
  • Build positive relationships with clients to support repeat business
  • Maintain high attention to detail across all estimating documentation
