Description

RWR Recruitment are seeking a motivated Mechanical Fitter to join our client’s engineering team in Torfaen. You’ll be assembling and maintaining road–rail equipment and other heavy vehicles in a modern workshop. Full product training is provided, but you must bring solid hands-on fitting experience and a commitment to high standards.

Key duties

  • Fit and install mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic components to heavy vehicles
  • Use hand and power tools to assemble, strip and re-build machinery parts
  • Carry out inspections, fault-finding and basic diagnostic work
  • Work from engineering drawings and job sheets to tight tolerances
  • Maintain a clean, safe work area and follow all H&S procedures
  • Record completed work and report any issues to the supervisor

What we’re looking for

  • Time-served background in mechanical fitting or maintenance (apprenticeship or equivalent)
  • Confident with hand/power tools and hydraulic systems
  • Strong attention to detail and a “right-first-time” mindset
  • Ability to read engineering drawings
  • Good communication skills and a positive, team-focused attitude
  • Flexibility to take on new tasks and learn new equipment
  • Previous experience on rail-related machinery is advantageous but not essential

Hours & overtime

  • 39-hour basic week (Mon–Thu)
  • Overtime paid 1.5× (Mon–Sat) and 2× (Sun)
