Job Description Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Fitter to join Service Stream in our Southeast Water Project Team, based in Dandenong South
About the Role
The Mechanical Fitter is responsible for the delivery of all planned and reactive mechanical maintenance tasks and/ or minor projects in accordance with quality, time, cost and service requirements to South East Water assets and/ or programmes.
The Mechanical Fitter will ensure that; they maintain a safe working environment; environmental procedures are met; and they will work in a co-operative, efficient and safe manner with other mechanical, electrical and civil team members. They will abide by and comply with company and project objectives including established quality, environmental and safety standards, and practices
Nature of position: Permanent, Full Time
Location: Dandenong, Vic
Reporting Line: Mechanical/Electrical Manager

Key Responsibilities

  • Act with safety front of mind and be an advocate for our values Safety, Delivery, People and Accountability ensuring the highest standard of safety is always maintained for all stakeholders
  • Perform all maintenance activities in a safe and compliant manner in accordance with the required specifications
  • Perform planned and reactive maintenance tasks to assets; respond to and rectify equipment failure/ fault finding; performing maintenance tasks to remedy faults and responding to alarms
  • Installation, augmentation, maintenance and fault finding of assets, plant and installations
  • Commissioning and decommissioning of assets, plant and installations
  • Carry out programmed maintenance and/ or capital works
  • Provide technical support to the site engineer
  • Actively participate in monthly toolboxes, communicate policies, procedures and practices to work teams including mandatory prestart activities
  • Ensure all Company safety processes and procedures are adhered to.
  • Ensure compliance to the contract’s safety by participating in regular audits and reviews of the system
  • Code of conduct, vision, expected behaviours, policies and procedure
  • Maintain open and proactive communications with client liaising with the client regarding operational activities
  • Participate in the rotating, standby roster to meet after hours requirements

About You

As the successful candidate, you will have:

  • Experience in similar role in the water industry
  • Knowledge of water industry infrastructure and asset management systems
  • Demonstrated understanding of planning scheduling functions
  • Sound knowledge of computer maintenance management systems
  • Practical and theoretical knowledge of SCADA
  • Experience in working to s strict set of quality systems
  • Capable of inspection, testing, adjustment, and repairs of mechanical plant equipment
  • Experience with Pressure reduction Valves
  • Sound knowledge of pumping fundamentals
  • Ability to respond calmly and decisively during an incident or emergency

You will also have:

  • Fitter trade qualifications and relevant practical experience
  • Certificate III in Engineering (Mechanical Trade)
  • Current Drivers Licence.
  • White Card
  • Medium Rigid (MR) Licence
  • Confined space trained
  • Forklift Licence (Desirable)
  • Dogman (Desirable)
  • Working At Heights (Desirable)
